Jamie Lynn Spears named her baby girl Maddie Briann apparently after her favorite childhood character, Madeline, and her older brother Bryan Spears. A source says “Jamie was a huge fan of the Madeline children’s books when she was a little girl and always wanted to name her daughter that.”

The name Madeline is the English form of Magdalene. This is the name of the heroine in a series of children’s books by Ludwig Bemelmans, first published 1939.
